Treatment

Title: "Drawn from the Shadows"

Logline
A clumsy, shy creature quietly observes and sketches a sleeping figure.

Treatment:

Opening Scene
A dimly lit university classroom at night. A lone figure slumps over a desk, asleep in front of a glowing computer monitor.

Introduction of the Creature
From the shadows emerges a tall, lanky creature with fidgety movements, As the creature is drawn by curiosity towards the sleeping student, computer monitors flicker.

OBSERVE AND SKETCH
With its unusually long neck, the creature carefully observes the sleeping figure and begins to sketch in a sketchbook.

Computer Blue Screen
As the creature leans in closer to observe, its proximity causes the computer to blue screen, emitting a jarring error sound that wakes the student.

Clumsy Retreat
The creature, startled, quickly retreats into the darkness, clumsily navigating with its long limbs to remain unseen. In its haste, it nearly drops its sketchbook, fumbling awkwardly but managing to keep hold of it.

Frustrated student
The student, startled by the computer's error alert, covers their face with both hands in frustration, unaware of the surreal events that just transpired.

Mood boards

Creature design (Alyssa)

Environment (Sala)

Texture (Levena)

Lighting scheme (Keon)

Creature Ideation

We explore different looks for the creature, from two legs to four, and from skinny to chubby. Plus, we delve into the creature's display of artistic abilities, adding an extra layer of significance for us.

Ultimately, we found Alyssa's initial concept (the one drawing on the ground) most compelling, and we chose it as the foundational design for our subsequent iterations.

We are making a simple Floursack jumping animation to start off this year. My one was heavily inspired by the classic Pixar intro.
